John Flynn invented the Royal Flying Doctor Service in 1928. John Flynn loved to help in the outback, setting up Hostels and Hospitals for road workers, railmen, pastoralists and other settlers and families. John Flynn had a dream to be able provide fast service to people in need of medical help. Flynns dream came true when Clifford Peel sent a letter to him suggesting aviation and HV McKay left a large sum of money in his will and Alfred Treagar invented the Pedal Radio. John Flynn then decided to invent the Royal Flying Doctor Service, a service providing help to people in the outback by plane and transported people to hospital by air if necessary. The Royal Flying Doctor Service is runs emergency evacuations, routine clinics, medical transfers, radio and telephone consultations, medical chests, visiting specialists, womens health nurse, early childhood nurse, mental health specialists and dentists. In the 85 years of The Royal Flying Doctor Service hundreds of lives have been saved and the service has had a great impact on society.
